Sexologist and best selling author Dr. Susan Block will discuss the bonobo species as a model for enhancing human relationships, community and sexuality during a lecture at 2-3p.m. Nov. 18 at the Erotic Heritage Museum.
Block considers bonobos the “make-love-not-war chimpanzees that present a new paradigm for human sexuality, female empowerment, male rejuvenation, conflict resolution, stress reduction and inclusive community.”
During the lecture, titled The Bonobo Way: The Evolution of Peace Through Pleasure, Block will weave stories, studies, theories and fantasies into a path of positive action. She also will provide a program for participants to release their inner bonobo and develop happier, healthier and sexier lives.
The lecture will complement the museum’s new Evolution of Human Sexuality exhibit. The immersive, multi-media exhibit features seven major species that shaped the development of our evolutionary perspective. It includes life-size skull cast replicas, anatomically correct models, media images and a detailed graphic of our evolutionary tree, among other features.
